Hazrat Nuh (A.S)

 

Hazrat Nuh (A.S.), known as Noah in other religious traditions, is remembered in Islam as a prophet who showed extraordinary patience, resilience, and faith. His mission began in a society steeped in idolatry and corruption, where people had turned away from Allah and were deeply attached to their false gods. Hazrat Nuh, moved by compassion and a sense of duty, spent an astonishing 950 years urging his people to return to the worship of one true God. Through day and night, he preached to them, speaking with kindness and sincerity, warning them of the consequences of their misdeeds. He pleaded with them to abandon their harmful ways, but despite his unwavering dedication, most of his people mocked him and dismissed his message. They saw him as an annoyance rather than a guide, refusing to listen to his words no matter how tirelessly he tried.

The Quran describes Hazrat Nuh’s sorrow and determination, capturing his heartfelt prayers to Allah as he struggled with the people's refusal to change. Finally, when it became clear that his people would not heed his call, Allah revealed to him that a great flood would come as a divine judgment on the disbelievers. Following Allah's instructions, Hazrat Nuh built an ark, even as the people laughed at him for building a boat on dry land. He gathered pairs of animals and the few believers who had followed his guidance, preparing for the flood he knew would soon arrive.

When the rain began to pour down and the earth released water from beneath, the floodwaters rose quickly, engulfing everything in their path. Hazrat Nuh’s heart ached as he saw his son, who had chosen to reject his father’s warnings, swept away by the waves. He called out to him to come aboard, but his son refused, choosing to stand with those who disbelieved. This moment was a painful reminder that even family ties couldn’t save someone from the consequences of their choices.

The flood finally subsided, and the ark came to rest on Mount Judi. Hazrat Nuh and the faithful survivors began a new chapter, rebuilding life with the lessons learned from their journey. His story in the Quran is one of endurance and compassion, showing the importance of faith and the courage to keep going, even when hope seems lost. Hazrat Nuh’s life remains a powerful example of the strength that comes from trust in Allah, reminding Muslims of the ultimate value of resilience, kindness, and the courage to speak the truth, no matter the opposition.
